Wyndham Worldwide, and its vacation ownership unit in particular, have been busy in the timeshare and resort segments in recent months:

• Last month, Wyndham Vacation Ownership launched sales for the company's first new development at Shawnee Village in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. First phase of the Wyndham Vacation Resorts Shawnee Village opens later this year as a complement to the existing 539 timeshare units at Shawnee Village, which Wyndham purchased three years ago.

• Wyndham also commenced its sales effort at its 12-story, 250-unit property at the National Harbor mixed-use development in Prince George's County, MD in suburban Washington, DC. The property opens in 2009.

• In mid-June, Wyndham broke ground on a 189-unit vacation ownership resort outside the Smoky Mountains National Park next to the Little Pigeon River in Sevierville, TN. When it opens next year, the property will anchor a residential and entertainment complex with a large indoor and outdoor water park currently under development by Wilderness Resort LLC.

  All three vacation ownership resorts will operate within the company's FairShare Plus exchange portfolio.

• Earlier this month, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced a new project on the Turks and Caicos Islands. Prestigious Properties Ltd. will develop and Wyndham will operate the 251-room Wyndham Cacique Royale Beach Resort at Pirate's Bay on Grand Turk Island.

The first phase of the two-phase project will open in the first quarter of 2009. The resort will be Wyndham's 25th property in Mexico and the Caribbean.
