Some of the sustainable design and project features that helped earn the Silver rating: recycling of scrap materials during construction, using concrete from the parking garage that was previously on the site, using solar reflective material on the roof and energy-efficient glazing on all windows to reduce heat transmission and energy needs, using rapidly renewable bamboo, choosing plumbing and lighting to conserve water and electricity and ongoing green housekeeping and recycling practices … The AffiniaManhattan hotel is finishing up a $25 million redesign by the RockwellGroup that will add 89 rooms to bring the total to 616.
