Largest Doubletree Debuts in Orlando
The world's largest Doubletree raised its new flag in Orlando last month after a $35-million renovation. Formerly the International Plaza Resort and Spa, the Doubletree Resort Orlando - International Drive spans 28 acres and features 1,094 rooms.
The hotel features a Balinese-inspired theme with contemporary, dark-wood furnishings and Indonesian design accents set against a lush, tropical landscape. Guests enter a spacious lobby with vaulted ceilings and comforted with bamboo furnishings, a soothing color palette, natural water features and Indonesian stone ceramics. The resort also offers three pools, three dining options, 60,000 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, business center and children's game lounge.
We're delighted to welcome guests to one of Central Florida's premier destination hotels, says Greg Gooding, general manager. The new Doubletree Resort Orlando will be a welcome addition to the community, creating new hospitality jobs and helping to fill the need for upscale rooms close to the convention center.
The new Doubletree located minutes from the airport, SeaWorld and the Orange Country Convention Center is owned by New York-based UrbanAmerica and managed by Pyramid Hotel Group out of Boston.
