Enlightened Approach at Radisson Hotel Northbrook
The Radisson Hotel Northbrook has a bright future thanks to $14 million in upgrades over the past two years, including two huge chandeliers atop the port cochere.
All 318 guestrooms were renovated with new carpeting, windows, lighting, wireless Internet, flat-screen TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, energy-efficient HVAC units, furniture, bedding and bathroom tile and fixtures. Marble flooring was added to the lobby and the existing bar, restaurant and banquet facilities were remodeled. Upgrades even extended outside to improve the curb appeal with new landscaping and the impressive addition to the porte cochere.
The two chandeliers, each 72 inches wide by 60 inches tall weighing 300 pounds, are mounted in the windowed ceiling of the porte cochere, creating a striking first impression for guests arriving at the hotel located outside Chicago. Forty-two incandescent lamps light each Empire chandelier, made by New Metal Crafts. Finished in French gold, the chandeliers are trimmed with 400 crystal chains made of imported octagonal crystal beads.
