Country Inn & Suites Opens in New York City
The trend toward outer borough hotel development in New York City continues. A new Country Inn & Suites that opened last week in Long Island City joins a number of other branded properties in the Queens neighborhood. Krishna Hospitality owns the 133-room property, and Kaushik Patel is general manager and managing partner.
The property is the first in New York City for the brand, which is approaching 500 properties and is now bigger than its Radisson sister chain.
The new Country Inn is near the eastern end of the Queensboro Bridge and is five minutes from Manhattan via bus, subway or car. The property’s standard guestrooms are large (252 square feet) by New York City standards. Also available are a few 384-square-foot one-bedroom suites. Amenities include free wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, 32-inch LCD TVs and microwaves and refrigerators in each room. Some rooms on higher levels of the hotel have panoramic views of Manhattan.
Other chain properties in the burgeoning Long Island City neighborhood include a large Holiday Inn, a Ramada, Best Western and the Verve Hotel, part of Choice’s Ascend Collection.
