Wyndham Umbrella Now Covers Hawthorn
Wyndham Hotel Group’s name brand will now have an extended-stay hotel under its umbrella after another reshuffling last week at the Wyndham brand conference in Puerto Rico.
New Wyndham brand president Jeff Wagoner made the announcement in front of more than 350 Wyndham owners and employees, unveiling the new Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham name and a refreshed red and orange logo that incorporates elements of the Wyndham logo.
Wagoner reiterated his three objectives for the brand: “brand clarity, brand contribution and profitability for Wyndham owners and operators.” The addition of Hawthorn gives Wyndham five distinct offerings: the four-plus diamond upper, upscale Wyndham Grand Collection; the three to four-diamond upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts; the three-diamond Wyndham Garden; the new construction midscale without f&b Wingate by Wyndham and now the extended-stay Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham.
The five distinct offerings will be tied together through the Wyndham ByRequest personalized loyalty program; the company’s ‘Count On Me!’ service culture; the ‘Wyndham Be Well’ philosophy; similarly designed marketing; common PMS systems; and the Wyndham brand name.
Also at the conference, both the Wingate and Hawthorn brands unveiled new interior prototypes. It’s the first new design concept for Wingate since its launch in 1995 and will include more open, social public spaces; contemporary guestroom décor and eco-friendly ff&e. Gensler, a global architecture and design firm, was tabbed to develop the new prototype. Hawthorn’s new look will feature fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances; flat-panel TVs and desks with accessible power outlets and data ports. The new design will have a more upscale feel and the suites will be divided into five spaces: the Chef Zone, Flex Zone, Relaxation Zone, Sleep Zone and Cleansing Zone.
With the addition of Hawthorn, Wyndham now encompasses 325 hotels based on statistics after the conclusion of the first quarter. Wingate was added to the Wyndham brand in 2007.
