Hilton Slapped With Subpoena

DenizenGate is heating up. Hilton Hotels said today it received a federal grand jury subpoena from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York. This follows last week’s filing of a suit against Hilton by Starwood, which charged that Hilton helped two former Starwood executives steal secrets relating to the W Hotels brand and used them to launch Hilton’s new Denizen luxury lifestyle product.

Those two executives, Ross Klein and Amar Lalvani, and the entire Hilton luxury and lifestyle team were put on paid administrative leave, pending further review by Hilton. The company also said it temporarily suspended further development of Denizen. Perhaps Starwood will ultimately get the relief it seeks in the suit, namely the killing of Denizen.
