A Boutique Blooms in Brooklyn
Manhattan can't quite claim a monopoly on boutique hotel design. Brooklyn's edgy Gowanus district will soon have a design-driven hotel of its own when the 48-unit Hotel Le Bleu opens this summer. Developed by Domenick Tonaachio and operated by Mukesh Patel, the property was designed to appeal to sophisticated, well-traveled guests. Designer Andres Escobar specified nearly every detail, from the lush bedding for the ergonomic beds with orthopedic mattresses to the custom furniture. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline, visible from the glass-walled showers that may be curtained for privacy — or not.
