INDUSTRY MOURNS TWO LOSSES
Two prominent lodging industry executives — Jack McHugh of Aimbridge Hospitality and John Whitaker of SICO — died last month.
McHugh, who was senior vice president of business development for Aimbridge, died at age 51 at his Carrollton, TX home. Nine days later, 52-year-old Whitaker died while golfing. He was international sales manager for Minnesota-based SICO, which markets a line of mobile folding products for the hospitality industry.
During his 26-year hospitality career, McHugh held sales and marketing positions with a number of companies, including Marriott, Red Lion, Wyndham, Prime Hospitality and Remington Hotels, before joining Aimbridge. He was a board member for the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International and active with the American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Foundation.
A long-time employee of SICO, Whitaker was a fixture at industry trade shows. He served as chairman of the AH&LA Allied Member Committee.
