With a rich history dating back to 1929 that includes legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, part of The Waldorf=Astoria Collection, now offers a History Package. The deal includes accommodations in either a cottage or the main building, both part of the original construction; a tour of the property by a certified historian; a tour of Taliesen West, Wright's architectural school in Scottsdale; a Wright or Biltmore history book; and a Biltmore Chocolate Block, inspired by the signature Biltmore Blocks used in construction of the resort.
Albert Chase McArthur designed the resort with consultation help from his famed teacher, Wright. Every president from Herbert Hoover on has stayed at the hotel, which also features the pool Marilyn Monroe called her favorite. Famous guests also include Clark Gable, Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra and Irving Berlin, who composed his famous “White Christmas” while poolside in Arizona.
The history tour, open to both guests and the public, is offered three days a week. The resort was inundated with calls about the package before it was officially offered in January. A podcast on the Biltmore's website describes the historic features of the property.
