New Resort Set for Los Angeles
It's tough in California to get approvals to build seaside resorts, but that's what Lowe Destination Development was able to accomplish. The company broke ground recently on the 102-acre Terranea Resort, a 582-room Mediterranean-style property on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Destination Hotels & Resorts, a Lowe affiliate, will operate the property, which opens in 2009.
Features of the $450-million property include three pools, a 25,000-square-foot oceanfront spa and fitness center, retail shops, a nine-hole executive golf academy and 63,000 square feet of meeting space. The f&b lineup includes a signature restaurant overlooking the Pacific, a three-meal restaurant, a spa restaurant and a cliffside bar.
