Want to eat and run? Or would you rather lounge with a cup of coffee and a snack while working on your laptop? Embassy Suites' new Flying Spoons “hip casual” dining concept was created to answer both those needs.
“It's an opportunity for people to eat the way they want to, when they want to,” said Rick McCue, vice president, brand performance & support, at the announcement in New York City.
Flying Spoons will offer guests casual and comfortable food and furniture in the hotel's lobby. Traditional restaurant seating with tables and chairs will be combined with bar-height transactional seating for people on the go and wing-back chairs with ottomans for those looking to spread out and relax. Fresh meal and snack options will be offered from 5 a.m. until 1 a.m.
A Flying Spoons unit costs about 30 percent less to develop than a traditional Embassy Suites restaurant because of the smaller square footage and cross utilization of back-of-house and comp services. Only one or two additional workers will be needed to staff the space.
The concept is part of the brand's new Design Option III prototype that will debut later this year in Jackson, MS.
Embassy Suites also launched Business Balance, a website (businessbalance.com) designed specifically to help business travelers. The site offers tips and guidance on nutrition, exercise, sleep and much more.
“We want guests to know that, while they may not be able to stick to their standard regimen while traveling on business, they can achieve the balance that works for them,” says John Lee, Embassy Suites' vice president, brand marketing and communications. “Embassy Suites will provide business travelers with the tools they need to build confidence, strength and relaxation to achieve peak business performance.”
