Aramark Parks & Resorts has offset 100 percent of its traditional energy consumption with alternative solutions at its national and state park-managed properties. It made the announcement celebrating its first year of sustainable energy use on Earth Day April 24.
The official name for the environmental management program at the Aramark Harrison Lodging division is PlanetEVERgreen. Aramark works with Carbon Solutions Group, a consultancy focused on greenhouse gas emission and renewable energy, and Bonneville Environmental Foundation, a pioneer in the market for renewable energy certificates, to acquire Green Tags. These are renewable energy certificates designed to counterbalance 24.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide and offset 100 percent of Aramark's traditional electrical consumption.
The Green Tags will be applied to funding certified renewable generation projects in Aramark locations in Washington state, Alaska, Indiana and Illinois.
