The #1 Sheraton in Customer Satisfaction in North America Selects
Roanoke, VA - October 3, 2008 - The Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center in Syracuse NY has installed GEM System® Energy Management in all 236 guestrooms. Sheraton Syracuse University is the #1 Sheraton in North America in Customer Satisfaction, as of August 2008. Lodging Technology's GEM System® is interfaced directly to the existing SIEMENS Apogee Building Automation System to further enhance energy savings. GEM System®, an infrared sensor-based guestroom energy management system, reduces room energy costs 35% to 45%.
“We are very excited to start utilizing the (GEM) System and begin to realize (increased) energy savings”, said David Heymann, Hotel General Manager.
The SIEMENS Apogee system allowed the Sheraton to maintain setback temperature levels in un-rented rooms, but they had no way to control temperature in rented-but-unoccupied rooms. Now, with the addition of GEM System®, the SIEMENS Apogee system can maintain setback temperatures anytime a room is unoccupied, in both rented and un-rented rooms, which will dramatically impact the Sheraton's energy savings.
Don Siedel, Lodging Technology Account Manager added, “We know how important guest service is at Starwood Hotels. Lodging Technology has been dealing with high profile hotels for the last 28 years, so we had no doubt that GEM System® would be able to maintain the integrity of guest service and afford the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center substantial energy savings.”
