Motel 6 added locations in Urbana, IL; Stony Plain, Alberta; Sturbridge, MA; and Grand Prairie, TX, while Studio 6 added properties in Holland, OH and Midland, TX.

America's Best Franchising

The company signed its first master licensee for portions of Africa as MIDC, Ltd. of Nigeria became the licensee for America's Best Inns & Suites in Togo, Benin, Liberia, Sierra Leone, St. Thomas Principe, Abidjan, Tanzania by Lake Victoria and Zanzibar.

Best Western

The membership organization added the 81-room Best Western Plaza Inn & Suites in Lathrop, CA and the 73-room Best Western Smyrna (DE) Inn. The first Best Western to be built to LEED certification broke ground in Golden, CO and is expected to open next May.

Carlson

Carlson Hotels Worldwide added 11 locations to its global portfolio in March, including one Regent hotel and six Country Inn & Suites by Carlson in the U.S.; two Radisson properties in South America and one in Canada and one Radisson SAS resort in the Ukraine.

The recently converted Radisson Suites Hotel Tucson Airport has 204 renovated rooms.

A new 107-room Country Inn & Suites by Carlson opened in Cordele, GA.

Choice

The Cambria Suites hotel at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (GA) opened with 97 suites. It was the first-ever signed deal for the new brand and sixth to open. The 108-room Cambria Suites that opened in Green, OH was the fifth. Interstate Hotels & Resorts will manage a 143-room Cambria Suites near Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International Airport that opens next year.

Hilton

Homewood Suites by Hilton announced plans to build a 100-suite property in Brooklyn, NY that is expected to break ground in September.

Hampton Hotels opened 11 new properties in March, including three Hampton Inn hotels and eight Hampton Inn & Suites properties. The properties total 1,119 rooms. Hilton also entered a franchise deal with Marigold Hospitality Limited to bring 16 Hampton by Hilton hotels to India.

The 150-room Embassy Suites Palmdale (CA) broke ground last month and is scheduled to open the second quarter of next year.

Doubletree by Hilton entered into a franchise agreement with ZAO Russkaya Kompaniya Razvitiya, a subsidiary of the London & Regional group, to introduce the product in Russia. The agreement forms part of a strategic development alliance with London & Regional Properties Limited, which is expected to bring 25 new hotels of selected Hilton brands across Russia.

Hilton and IPC Jerusalem Ltd. announced the execution of a management agreement to introduce the first Waldorf=Astoria Collection hotel in Israel. The Palace Jerusalem-The Waldorf=Astoria Collection is expected to open by the end of 2010.

IHG

Staybridge Suites is bringing the brand's third property to Arkansas, a new build in Hot Springs, expected to open this fall. The Generation Companies LLC opened the 120-suite Staybridge Suites-Jacksonville (FL).

MHI Hospitality Corporation entered a franchise agreement to brand its Hampton, VA hotel as the Crowne Plaza Hampton Harborside. The historic Block Plaza in Niagara Falls, Canada will become the Crown Plaza Niagara Falls-Fallsview after extensive renovations. The Crowne Plaza Milwaukee-Wauwatosa (WI) is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year after renovations.

The Holiday Inn Express in Glendale, AZ opened last month. Vesta Hospitality is also developing a Staybridge Suites in the same resort-style campus.

Marriott International

CSM Lodging opened a Residence Inn by Marriott in Plymouth, MN last month with 119 rooms. A 198-suite SpringHill Suites and a 135-room Fairfield Inn & Suites opened in Louisville, while a 270-suite Residence Inn and a 253-suite SpringHill Suites opened in Chicago, all four managed by White Lodging.

The 104-room SpringHill Suites Jacksonville (FL) Airport that opened last year is owned by Kedar Properties, LLC and managed by Baywood Hotels, Inc. A 103-suite SpringHill Suites opened in Richmond, VA, while a 159-room Courtyard by Marriott opened in Atlanta.

Fairfield Inn & Suites added locations in Omaha, NE and Cleveland, TN. A 100-suite TownePlace Suites by Marriott opened in Boise last month.

The Pleasanton Marriott opened last month with 242 rooms in the heart of Northern California wine country.

NYLO

NYLO Hotels broke ground on a 200-room hotel in Irving, TX. The brand's third property will be 10 minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in the master-planned community of Las Colinas.

RockResorts

The Osprey at Beaver Creek, a RockResort, is undergoing a $7-million renovation this summer and will launch as the brand's newest addition in time for this year's ski season.

Rosewood

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts welcomed The Mansion on Peachtree, A Rosewood Hotel & Residence into its collection. The 127-room luxury hotel also has 45 exclusive residences.

Starwood

Marshall Management, Inc. signed a contract to manage the 158-room Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan Chelsea. It's the company's fourth in New York City through a partnership with The Lam Group.

The Adam's Mark Hotel Dallas officially became the Sheraton Dallas last month and will undergo a $90-million renovation beginning later this year. The Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel opened last month with 200 rooms and is the first Sheraton in White Lodging's managed portfolio.

Alabama's first Westin Hotel opened in Huntsville last month with 210 rooms and 74 condominiums.

Starwood Capital Group Global, LLC will re-flag the Sheraton Yankee Trader Hotel as The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in Florida.

Continental Properties Company, Inc. will develop a new aloft in the Chicago area that will be managed by Aimbridge Hospitality. The 251-room hotel will be minutes from O'Hare International Airport in the Rosemont Walk mixed-use development and is expected to open this July.

Wyndham

Knights Inn Canada Franchise Systems Limited signed its first property in New Brunswick with the Woodstock Knights Inn. Knights Inn has an estimated six properties opening in Canada over the next 12 months.

Howard Johnson Canada added the Howard Johnson Inn Gananoque in Ontario and after renovations it is expected to open June 1. The Howard Johnson Manoirs De L'Aigle Resort Hotel in Sainte Adele, Quebec is being developed as a hotel condominium project that will feature 120 rooms. Construction will begin later this year and it's expected to open in fall 2009.
