Best Western International

Recent additions to the membership group include the Best Western San Isidro Inn in Laredo, TX; the Best Western Bandana Square in St. Paul, MN; the Best Western Bass Hotel and Suites in Leeds, AL; the Best Western Grove City (PA) Inn; the Best Western Stagecoach Inn in Leesville, LA; the Best Western Executive Inn in Lemoore, CA; and the Best Western Lindale (TX) Inn.

Bridgestreet Worldwide

Corporate housing provider Bridgestreet Worldwide now has partners in 110 U.S. metro areas. It recently added Florida-based Stress Free Corporate Housing, while existing partner Synergy Corporate Housing opened an office in Los Angeles. Another partner, Leading Apartments, opened the Tampa market through the acquisition of Apartments Express.

Carlson Hotels Worldwide

Minneapolis-based Carlson added 15 locations in June and July. New properties include Radisson Hotels in New York City and New Jersey, Radisson SAS Hotels in Tunisia and Switzerland, eight Country Inn & Suites throughout the U.S. and one in Canada, a Park Plaza in New Mexico and a Park Inn by Rezidor SAS in Europe.

Gaylord

A 2,000-room Gaylord property is slated for development in Chula Vista, CA near San Diego. The new mega-hotel will join sister properties in Nashville, Orlando and Grapevine, TX and one in suburban Washington, DC, which opens next year.

GuestHouse

Additions to the chain include a GuestHouse International Hotel in St. Petersburg, FL; a GuestHouse International Inn in Spokane, WA; and a GuestHouse International Inn & Suites in Monroe, WA.

Hilton Hotels

Hilton hired Citigroup Global Markets to help determine what to do with the Scandic brand it acquired when it purchased Hilton Group plc. The company says one possibility is sale of all or part of the business, which includes 130 hotels primarily in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark.

Apple Hospitality awarded management contracts to LBA Properties for eight Hilton-branded hotels Apple acquired from PHD Hotels. The portfolio includes seven existing properties in Alabama and Mississippi and a Hilton Garden Inn that opens next year in Macon, GA

Hyatt Hotels

Owner Tom Ireland selected Hyatt to manage his Bonaventure Resort and Spa in Weston, FL. The 501-room property is now known as the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Conference Center and Spa.

Marathon Real Estate named Oxford Lodging Advisory & Investment Group to be asset manager of the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, a 1,000-room destination property that will open in 2008 on the San Antonio Riverwalk next to the city's convention center.

InterContinental Hotels

Viapara Viagens e Turismo Ltd. last month opened the 173-room Crowne Plaza Belem in the state of Para, Brazil.

Richfield Hospitality assumed management of the Holiday Inn Albany (NY) Turf. Richfield, along with two joint venture partners, purchased the 312-room property in late August.

Bijoy LLC opened a Hotel Indigo in downtown Dallas. Sandhu Management & Investments operates the 170-room property, which was converted from a Holiday Inn.

Joie de Vivre Hospitality

San Franciscio-based Joie de Vivre plans five additional properties in California. Two of them — in Huntington Beach and Redondo Beach — will be new construction, while two others will be redevelopments of two properties — The Miyako Hotel and the Best Western Miyako Inn — in San Francisco's Japantown. In Sacramento, the firm will convert an historic downtown building into a 197-room boutique hotel.

Kimpton Hotels

Wavestone Properties chose Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants to operate a new hotel it is developing in Sunny Isles, FL, north of Miami Beach. The Sol On the Ocean Resort & Spa will have 250 rooms.

La Quinta

The La Quinta North Inn & Suites in Lubbock, TX opened early last month. Hospitality Management Corp. operates the 67-unit property.

Marriott International

Howard Group recently opened a Courtyard by Marriott and a Residence Inn at its Grand Boulevard shopping and entertainment development at the entrance to the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Sandestin, FL. The two properties have a combined 300 rooms.

Morgans Hotel Group

A joint venture between Morgans Hotel Group and an affiliate of Hudson Capital have purchased an apartment building in South Beach, FL and will convert it to a 342-unit Mondrian Hotel.

Omni Hotels

Construction started in late August on the new Omni Fort Worth. The 604-room property, which opens in late 2008, will have 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space and 97 residential condo units.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts

A partnership between AMC Delancey Group and Paramount Hotel Group last month reopened the Sheraton Orlando North following a multi-million-dollar renovation. Paramount manages the 390-room property.

Heavenly Hospitality LLC plans to build The Westin at Tulsa (OK) Garden Square, a multi-use development that will include 246 hotel rooms, 72 condo units and restaurant and retail space.

The city commission of Hollywood, FL approved rezoning that will allow the development of a new 350-room hotel adjacent to the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa. The $300-million Diplomat West project may become a condo hotel.

A subsidiary of Melview Developments Ltd. is developing a Westin in downtown Auckland, New Zealand. The 172-room Westin Auckland, Lighter Quay will open next year.

Sage Hospitality Resources is renovating the upper floors of a former department store in downtown Portland, OR to create The Nines, a 330-room Starwood Luxury Collection property.

TCC Land will develop Vana Belle Samui Resort & Spa on Samui island, Thailand. The Starwood Luxury Collection property, which opens in 2011, will have 180 rooms and 30 stand-alone villas.

The first Four Points by Sheraton in Beijing, China will open in 2009. Beijing Yongtai Real Estate Development is building the 301-room property.

Vantage Hospitality

Inc. magazine added Vantage Hospitality to its list of the 500 fastest-growing public companies. The company posted revenue growth of more than 307 percent between 2002 and 2005.

Wyndham Hotel Group

Piedmont Avenue Holdings selected Crescent Hospitality Corp. to oversee the renovation and reflagging of two downtown Atlanta properties into a 211-room Wyndham Garden Hotel and a 242-room Baymont Inn & Suites.

Owner P.D. Patel and operator Hotel Equities recently reopened the Wingate Inn in Alpharetta, GA following an extensive renovation. The 10-year-old, 84-room property was one of the first three Wingates to open on the same day in 1996.
