AmericInn International

Missouri Rivers Edge LLC plans to build an AmericInn Lodge & Suites in Fort Pierre, SD. The 67-room property opens in 2007. Also, Eagle River Lodge, Inc. is developing an AmericInn Lodge & Suites in Isanti, MN. The 54-unit property opens next spring.

C.P. Properties LLC opened an AmericInn Lodge & Suites in Havre, MN. The property is the first to have the chain's new AmericInn Perk breakfast concept.

Best Western International

New additions to the membership group include the Best Western Ocean City (MD) Hotel and Suites; the Best Western Luxury Inn and Suites in Little Rock; the Best Western Seville Plaza Hotel in Omaha; the Best Western Dartmouth Inn in North Dartmouth, MA; the Best Western Presidential Hotel and Suites in Pine Bluff, AR; the Best Western Atrium Gardens in Arkansas City, KS; and the Best Western Colonial Inn in Kingsport, TN.

Choice Hotels

Maryland-based Choice opened 34 franchised properties in July. The additions include 10 Quality properties, seven Comfort Inns, six Rode-way Inns, four Econo Lodges, four Comfort Suites and one each Sleep Inn, Clarion and Clarion Collection.

Developer MCD signed an agreement with Choice to build 10 extended-stay properties in Arizona. Choice's brands in the segment include Suburban and MainStay.

Hilton Hotels

Four Homewood Suites by Hilton properties opened in July. The hotels are in Fargo, ND; downtown Indianapolis; Wichita, KS; and near the DFW Airport in Irving, TX.

Sandcastle Resorts & Hotels and Wood Partners plan to develop a new Hilton property in the Buckhead section of Atlanta. The property opens in 2009 with 300 guest-rooms and 192 condo units.

Two former Radisson hotels in Hawaii are now Hiltons. The converted properties are the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio and the Hilton Kauai Beach Resort.

Following a multi-million-dollar renovation, an affiliate of Lodging Capital Partners and Westbrook Partners will convert the former Ohana Waikiki Surf to The Wyland Waikiki-A Doubletree Hotel. The 404-room property will feature a number of works by marine life artist Wyland.

North Carolina-based REIT Winston Hotels bought two under-construction hotels in New York City for a combined $110 million. The properties, one in Tribeca and one in Chelsea, will be branded as Hilton Garden Inns.

InterContinental Hotels

McSam Hospitality LLC opened a Holiday Inn Express in Brooklyn, NY. Magna Hospitality Group manages the 115-room property.

The first Holiday Inn Express in Mexico City opened last month. The 218-room property is near the city's World Trade Center.

Vision Hotel Partners plans to build a Hotel Indigo in Columbus, IN. Dora Brothers Hospitality will manage the 85-room property, which opens next summer.

New Candlewood Suites properties opened recently in Lincoln, NE and Columbus, OH. Pioneer Hotels owns and HMA Hotel manages the 85-room property in Lincoln, while Claris Ltd. is the developer of the 122-unit hotel in Columbus.

La Quinta

La Quinta opened 31 hotels in the first half of the year. The properties are located in 13 states and add more than 3,400 rooms to the system. All but seven of the additions are franchised properties. Corporate acquisitions include properties in Bloomington, MN, Islip, NY and downtown Little Rock.

Marriott International

White Lodging Services is developing a 1,000-room, three-hotel complex in downtown Austin, TX. The project near the Austin Convention Center will include a 650-room full-service Marriott, a 200-room Renaissance and a 150-room SpringHill Suites. The properties will open in 2009. White will also open three Marriott-brand properties in Austin this fall. They include a Residence Inn and Courtyard in adjacent downtown buildings and a Courtyard near the airport.

Madison 92nd Street Associates last month opened a 226-room Courtyard by Marriott in the upper east side of Manhattan.

Prairie Lodging opened a Residence Inn by Marriott in San Antonio. InterMountain Management operates the 88-suite property.

A venture between FFC Capital Corp. and Waterford Hospitality Group will develop a Courtyard by Marriott in Stuart, FL. The 120-unit property opens in 2008.

Red Lion Hotels

A renovated and expanded Red Lion Hotel in downtown Kalispell, MT reopened in early August.

Settle Inns

Green Bay, WI-based Total Service Development signed an agreement to build and franchise as many as 12 Settle Inn & Suite properties in Wisconsin. The first 81-unit property opens in Grand Chute in early 2007.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts

Noble Investment Group will spend $50 million to renovate and convert its recently purchased Sheraton Colony Square in midtown Atlanta into a W Hotel. The new property will open in late 2007.

LTD Management Co. and Sree Hotels will develop an aloft hotel in Charleston, SC. The 140-room property opens in 2008.

Westin's three properties in Australia and the Pacific adopted the 100-percent no-smoking policy that the chain's North American hotels adopted earlier this year. The new no-smoking Westins are in Melbourne, Sydney and Fiji.

Reynolds Development will break ground this fall on a new Westin Hotel near the Philip Morris USA headquarters in Richmond, VA. The 250-room property will open in early 2008.

Intrawest Corp. and Starwood plan to develop a luxury condo-hotel property in California's Napa Valley. The Westin Verasa Napa, which opens in two years, will have 160 units.

SunCor Development Co. will build a 183-room Le Meridien hotel at Hayden Ferry Lakeside, a mixed-use, master-planned project in Tempe, AZ. Forty-four residential units will top the 14-story property.

Following an extensive renovation, Premier Hotels & Resorts plans to reflag the Guam Palace Hotel as the Sheraton Laguna Guam. The 318-room property will join a Westin as the second Starwood property on the Pacific island.

US Franchise Systems

Southern Hospitality Group opened a 59-room Microtel Inn & Suites in Rincon, GA.

Turkish businessman Seyfi Karaca opened the Hawthorn Karaca Resort in Bodrum in southeastern Turkey.

Vantage Hospitality

Chinas Best Value Inn and Lexington Hotel Co. Ltd., Shanghai, signed master license agreements with Vantage to develop the Lexington and Best Value brands through-out China.
