C.P. Properties LLC broke ground in late October on a new AmericInn Lodge & Suites in Havre, MT. The 54-unit property will open in June.
Budget Host Inns
The Arlington, TX-based membership chain added 10 inns in the first 10 months of 2005. The properties are in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming.
Carlson Hotels Worldwide
The former L'Habitation de Lonvilliers Resort (and one-time Le Meridien) on the French side of St. Martin will become a Radisson Resort and Spa. Carlson, which will spend $60 million to acquire and renovate the 253-room beachfront property, will close the resort early this year. It will reopen prior to the year-end holidays.
Summit Property Development Co. opened The Regent Shanghai in early November. Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific manages the 511-room property.
Cendant Hotel Group
Charleston Lodging Co. recently broke ground on a Wingate Inn on the campus of Charleston (SC) Southern University. IMIC Hotels will develop and manage the 100-room property, which will open early next year.
Extended Stay Hotels
An Extended Stay Deluxe opened in Ottawa, ON, Canada in mid-November. The 218-room property, formerly the Aristocrat Suite Hotel, is the company's first hotel outside of the U.S.
Global Hyatt Corp.
A groundbreaking in late October marked the start of construction of the Grand Hyatt Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino. The $1.8-billion mixed-use property will include 3,000 hotel rooms, suites and condo-hotel units. It opens in mid-2008.
Hilton Hotels Corp.
New Embassy Suite Hotels recently opened in Washington, DC and Laredo, TX. The pension fund for the painters and allied trades union owns the 384-suite property near the Washington Convention Center, while Laredo Skyline Ltd. owns and manages the 154-unit property in Texas.
Kinseth Hospitality Cos. and Dial Realty Corp. started construction of a 199-room Hilton Garden Inn in Omaha, NE. The property opens this summer.
The Tharaldson organization recently opened a 107-unit Homewood Suites by Hilton in Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
A subsidiary of United Capital Corp. named Waterford Hotel Group as manager of the Doubletree Hotel at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut. The owner plans to spend $2 million to renovate the 200-room property.
A former Wyndham is now the Doubletree Hotel Newark (NJ) Airport. Interstate Hotels & Resorts manages the 396-room property.
The former Le Meridien Hotel in Chicago will become the Conrad Chicago, the brand's first property in the market. Lodging Capital Partners recently purchased the 311-room hotel.
Two new Hotel Indigos will open in Tennessee later this year. Wesley Hotel Group will own both hotels: a 126-room property near the University of Tennessee in downtown Knoxville and a 146-room hotel near Music Row in downtown Nashville.
A new next-generation Holiday Inn opened in November in Augusta, GA. Guru Hotels owns and Shab Management operates the 130-room property.
Northstar Hotels Group recently purchased and converted a 197-room former Hilton in Southbury, CT into a Crowne Plaza Hotel. The owner will spend $2 million to renovate the hotel.
Strategic Hotel Capital plans to build a new 71-story tower next to its InterContinental Hotel in downtown Chicago. The structure, which will replace an existing 330-room guest tower, will include 150 hotel rooms and 310 condominium units. Construction will begin in mid-2007.
Mandarin Oriental International
MGM Mirage selected Mandarin Oriental to manage a new 400-unit luxury hotel in MGM's new Project City-Center in Las Vegas, an 18-million-square-foot hotel-casino-retail-entertainment-con-do complex on the Strip. First phase of the project opens in late 2009.
A new 56-room Fairfield Inn & Suites opened in November in Ukiah, CA.
The Marriott Minneapolis West was named Conversion of the Year by Marriott International. CSM Lodging, which owns the former Holiday Inn, received the award at the brand's North American conference.
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels
The Millennium Hongqiao Shanghai, the chain's first property in China, will open this summer. The Shanghai Workers Union owns the 350-room luxury hotel.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts
New Westins recently opened in Canada and France. The 222-suite Westin Trillium House Blue Mountain is part of Intrawest's Village at Blue Mountain resort in Collingwood, ON. GIC Real Estate owns and Starwood operates the new 438-room Westin Paris in the center of the French capital.
New Castle Hotels & Resorts broke ground in November on a new Sheraton in Tarrytown, NY. The 150-room property will open next January.
The former Tampa Riverwalk was reflagged as a Sheraton. Driftwood Hospitality Management owns and operates the 280-room property.
Cleveland developer John Ferchill will spend $176 million to renovate the former Book-Cadillac Hotel in Detroit and reopen it as a Westin. The property, which will debut in 2008, will have 455 hotel rooms and 66 condo units.
In early November, a new St. Regis Hotel opened in downtown San Francisco. The property includes 214 standard guestrooms, 46 suites and 102 private residences.
SR Hotel Development will build a St. Regis in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. Scheduled to open in 2008, the property will include 150 hotel units and 50 private residences.
Sun Hung Kai Properties is developing a 400-room W Hotel in Shanghai, China. The property opens in 2008.
US Franchise Systems
Hospitality Holdings, Inc. recently opened a 56-room Microtel Inn & Suites in Bartlesville, OK.
