Carlson Sets Records in 06
It was a very good year for Carlson Hotels Worldwide and its select service brands in particular. In 2006, the company added more than 80 hotels among its five brands, while its select service flags — Country Inns & Suites by Carlson and Park Inn — posted record revenues.
Portfolio additions in 2006 included two Regent Hotels, 25 Radissons, six Park Plaza Hotels, 38 Country Inns and nine Park Inns.
Country Inns, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, recently outsourced its quality assurance inspection process to the Gallup organization. Chain officials say the system frees up its field staff to provide operational consulting to property GMs and owners.
Over the years, the Country brand has moved away from its country decor, while retaining a look that exudes comfort and warmth. A new design scheme for the properties' great room is in the works.
