The Samoset Resort in Rockport, ME will soon become the New England home of the popular ESPN Golf School. The oceanfront property, which is owned and operated by Ocean Properties Ltd., is a four-hour drive from Boston, placing it close to a major population center but far enough away that most students at the school will require overnight accommodations.

The ESPN schools, sponsored by Lexus and overseen by legendary golf teaching pro Hank Haney, offer a variety of instructional programs, ranging from one-day outings to three-day packages. For the 2006 season, the schools will also present programs for advanced golfers featuring one-on-one instruction from Haney.

The par-70 links-style course at Samoset opened in 1902. The 178-room Samoset Resort sits on 230 waterfront acres at the edge of Penobscot Bay.
