Gaylord Palms Showcases Thin Technology
A “thin technology“ system designed to enhance guest services and ease connectivity is available in all 1,406 guestrooms at the Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, FL.
The complimentary iConnect desktop application provides high-speed Internet access, room-to-room messaging, instant messaging, a “virtual tradeshow“ function and security.
According to Gaylord Palms CIO Richard Zarth, because iConnect is managed from a central server, it is inherently secure and virus-resistant. It also acts as a virtual meeting planner's assistant, supporting ROI initiatives and meeting goals.
The iConnect installation is one of the more visible aspects of technology services at Gaylord Palms. Nearly 400 miles of copper and fiber optic cable for HSIA, local area networking and telephone needs cross the 63-acre site.
