Craig Mance has been named senior vice president, franchise development for Hilton's U.S., Canada and Mexico regions. He reports to Bill Fortier, who was recently promoted to senior vice president — development for the Americas. Thomas Lorenzo is now vice president — franchise development, northeastern region and Canada.
Brad Wiens was promoted to senior vice president of development and acquisitions at True North Hotel Group. Wiens is the son of co-founder Lew Wiens.
Best Western International announced the promotion of Ron Pohl to the newly formed position of vice president, brand management and member services. Pohl also serves on the executive committee and as team leader for Best Western's international brand management team.
Toma Brashear will receive the Above & Beyond Award at The Lodging Conference later this month in Phoenix. The award is presented annually to an individual in the hospitality industry who has shown outstanding humanitarian efforts.
InterContinental Hotels Group named Rob Evans general manager of the Holiday Inn in Fort Wayne, IN, which is currently under construction. Evans, who served as general manager of the downtown Fort Wayne Hilton, returns to Fort Wayne from his native Canada where he recently served as president and CEO of the Ontario Restaurant Association.
Group RCI, a Wyndham Worldwide company, announced the promotion of Brad Dettmer to chief technology officer. He reports directly to Tom Edwards, Group RCI's chief financial officer.
Tom Santora has joined Omni Hotels as its new chief marketing officer and senior vice president of sales. He had been executive vice president of sales & marketing for Kor Hotel Group.
Atlanta-based Kronos Hotels has added three executives to its senior management team. Ned Barker joins Kronos as vice president of food and beverage; Terry Logsdon was named vice president of franchising and development; and Lee Davis is corporate asset manager.
Industry veteran Teri Fox joined the Budgetel Franchise System in the newly created position of vice president for franchise operations. Fox, who has more than 24 years of combined hotel management and franchise experience, will oversee the operations of all franchised Budgetel properties.
Vail Resorts appointed Derek Koenig senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Koenig joins Vail Resorts from Discovery Communications, where he had been senior vice president of marketing since 2005.
The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club has a new general manger, David Feder. Most recently, he was president and general manager of the soon-to-reopen Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Feder succeeds Darrell Sheaffer, the newly appointed general manager of the Fairmont Palm Hotel & Resort, opening in Dubai, in 2009.
Ilene Kamsler will retire from the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association after 22 years as president of the group. Her retirement took effect Aug. 29.
National Hospitality Holdings appointed David A. Deskins as vice president of accounting and financial reporting. His experience includes financial positions with Starwood Hotels & Resorts and HEI Hotels and Resorts.
Adam Hamdy was named general manager of Dinah's Garden Hotel, a boutique property in Palo Alto, CA. The multilingual Hamdy has held executive positions in hospitality and f&b at properties in California, Nevada and Minnesota.
Chuck V. Schoonmaker is the new general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Ponte Vedra, FL.
Shaner Hotels announces the following shifts and promotions: Yaser Hasan moves from GM at the Hampton Inns & Suites in State College, PA to GM at the State College SpringHill Suites by Marriott; Mimi Driscoll, former GM of that SpringHill Suites, becomes GM of the State College Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott.
; and Christopher Szczesny, former assistant GM of the State College Holiday Inn Express at Williamsburg Square, becomes GM of the Hampton Inn & Suites there.
Tim Herman is the new general manager of the Swissotel & Resorts Chicago. He was hotel manager at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Florida.
Sandra Findlay, a 19-year-veteran of Regent Hotels & Resorts, was named general manager of the Regent Boston at Battery Wharf, Regent's first hotel in the Northeast. It opens this summer.
The new general manager of the Nob Hill Hotel and The Fitzgerald Hotel is Bertrand H. Newson. He comes to the San Francisco post from Summit Hospitality, where he was a consultant.
Hospitality veteran William Harris joined Larry Blumberg & Associates as director of development. He held a similar position at Integral Hospitality Solutions, LLC.
David Sullivan was appointed general manager of the Pan Pacific Seattle. The hospitality veteran comes to Pan Pacific from IntraWest Resort Club Group.
