Steven Goldman was appointed president, global development and real estate, Hilton Hotels Corp, joining Hilton's new senior leadership team from the top spot at Sunstone Hotel Investors. Recently promoted at Hilton: Ian Carter, from CEO of Hilton International to the new role of president, global operations; Mark Wang, from head of Hilton Grand Vacations, Asia to president of all Hilton Grand Vacations and in charge of all Hilton timeshare; finally, CIO Tim Harvey will now also assume oversight for shared brand services.
The Choice Hotels board of directors recently adopted a management succession plan that includes the appointment of former Marriott executive Stephen Joyce as president and chief operating officer. Joyce, who had been EVP of global development/owner and franchise services at Marriott, will succeed Chuck Ledsinger in October 2008 as CEO of Choice. Ledsinger will remain as chairman of the company. Choice also promoted Bruce Haase to executive vice president of global brand operations.
Baron Carr joins Carlson Hotels Worldwide as vice president of brand marketing. He reports to Frederick Korallus, EVP of revenue generation. He comes to Carlson from Allianz of America, where he was in charge of branding and multicultural marketing.
US Franchise Systems has reconfigured and expanded its national sales team for its Microtel Inns & Suites and Hawthorn Suites brands, creating an in-house sales force reporting to Rachel Tyler, vice president of national sales. The national sales team includes Tim Watters, Meredith Picket and Sandra Caamano; in the business travel sales branch are Jennifer Effendi, Faye Deloso, Beth Busch, Lauren Jones, Brook Moody and Rebecca Steeves.
The recent promotion of Alan Bennett at Hotel Equities adds the title of senior vice president to his position as chief financial officer. Since he was named CFO more than a year ago, Hotel Equities has added eight hotels to its portfolio and has another eight scheduled to come online within 18 months.
Full House Franchise Systems Ltd. named Agnes Moskaluniec national sales director for Howard Johnson Canada. Her charge is developing a base across Canada for Howard Johnson, a brand with 40 properties in that country.
Austin Khan was named vice president of acquisitions and development for Omni Hotels. He joins the luxury chain from OTO Development in Los Angeles.
InterContinental Hotels Group executive Ronen Nissenbaum was promoted to regional vice president of operations, IHG North America. He was RVPO, Southeast region, and has been general manager of InterContinental hotels in Paris, Berlin and Tel Aviv.
Paul Toner joined RockResorts and Vail Resorts Hospitality as vice president of sales and marketing. He comes to RockResorts from Hong Kong, where he was vice president of sales and marketing for Marriott.
Host Hotels & Resorts Executive Vice President Minaz Abji was named chair of the American Hotel & Lodging Association's Educational Foundation Fund Development Committee. The AH&LEF is the non-profit affiliate of the AH&LA.
