Fred J. Kleisner was appointed president and chief executive officer of Morgans Hotel Group, a year after the company's initial IPO, when he was named interim president. Kleisner is the former president and CEO of Wyndham International and earlier served as president and COO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Rom Jaworowicz has succeeded Charles Helm as chairman of the Best Western International Board of Directors. His one-year term will expire Dec. 10. Jaworowicz owns Best Westerns in Midland, Ontario and Campbellsville, KY. The Buffalo, NY native is Best Western's first Canadian hotelier to serve as board chairman. Helm, meanwhile, remains on the board.
Douglas Carillo was promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing and made a partner in Tecton Hospitality. He was VP of sales and marketing for Tecton. Since joining Tecton six years ago, Carillo has been key to its growth, including co-developing Desires Hotels, its boutique division.
Rudy Sharp was appointed managing director of The Edgewater, the Seattle, WA flagship of Noble House Hotels & Resorts. Sharp brings more than 22 years of hospitality experience to this high-profile waterfront property.
Joseph Palmieri was named general manager of the Hilton Americas-Houston. He comes to the 1,200-room Hilton flagship from a similar position at the Hilton Lincoln Centre in Dallas.
David Greydanus was named senior vice president, North America operations, for InterContinental Hotel Group. He joins IHG from Hilton Hotels, where he was SVP, brand management, The Waldorf=Astoria Collection and Embassy Suites, as well as SVP, operations, Embassy Suites.
Recently promoted to senior vice president level at Choice Hotels International: David White, CFO and Patrick Pacious, vice president of corporate development and strategy. In conjunction with this promotion, both became officers of the company. White joined Choice in 2002, Pacious in 2005.
Vesta Hospitality President and CEO Rick Takach was elected chairman of the board of directors of IAHI, the owners' association of InterContinental Hotels Group.
Ronald Parker was named general manager for The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Thomas, USVI. He had been vice president of purchasing for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.
Destination Hotels & Resorts hired Andrew Furrer as vice president of information technology/chief information officer. He joins Destination from Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, where he was technology VP.
Intrawest Hospitality Management promoted Mike Speicher to vice president and general manager, the Westin Imagine Orlando, and appointed Bob Geller its director of sales and marketing.
Speicher was VP of sales and marketing at Intrawest's Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The Westin Imagine Orlando is scheduled to open this spring.
Omni Hotels vetera Mike Garcia was promoted from CFO to SVP, development. He also will serve as SVP of business development for Omni parent TRT Holdings.
