Thomas Arasi is the new president of Portman Holdings. He had been chief investment officer of CNL Hospitality Corp.
Choice Hotels International, Inc. promoted and elected David Goldberg to senior vice president, corporate & brand strategy and David Pepper to senior vice president, franchise development. Gordon A. Smith was appointed a director of the company, replacing William Jews.
WestCoast Hospitality Corp. hired Anupam Narayan as executive vice president, chief investment officer. He previously served as senior vice president, global brand management and chief financial officer of Best Western International.
Best Western named Dorothy Dowling senior vice president, marketing. She had been a vice president of Aramark Corp.
Navin Dimond, president and CEO of Stonebridge Companies, was named 2004 Colorado Hotelier of the Year. The award was presented by the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association during its annual conference.
La Quinta Corp. announced changes within its franchising subsidiaries, La Quinta Franchising and Baymont Franchising: Alan Tallis, executive vice president and chief development officer of La Quinta Corp., will assume the additional position of president of La Quinta Franchising and Baymont Franchising. A. Brent Spaeth, senior vice president-human resources and administration of La Quinta Corp., will also assume the position of senior franchise operations officer, while Rajiv Trivedi, vice president-franchising of La Quinta Corp., will assume the additional position of senior franchise development officer of the two franchise organizations.
David Lutz joined Marshall Management, Inc. as vice president of finance. He most recently was vice president of accounting and finance for the hotel and country club divisions of Corporex Cos.
Brenda Thielbar was named communications manager for the IAHI, The Owners' Association of InterContinental Hotels Group. She had been lead marketing account executive with The Partnership, Inc.
Cendant Corp.'s Hotel Group promoted Peter Strebel to executive vice president and chief marketing officer. He had been senior vice president, sales and marketing. Jean Thomas was promoted from senior vice president, brand strategy, to corporate senior vice president of marketing for Cendant's Hospitality Services Division.
Arlington Hospitality appointed Stephen Miller, senior vice president real estate and business development, to serve as the company's interim CEO, following the recent resignation of president and CEO Jerry Herman.
James Mead joined Strategic Hotel Capital Inc. as chief financial officer. He had been CFO of Irvine Apartment Communities.
