Edward Rohling is the new president of Lodgian, Inc. Most recently, he was founder and principal of The Rohling Co., Hotel Equity Advisors.
New vice president of architecture and design for Hyatt Hotels Corp. is Larry Traxler. He had been design director for the Los Angeles office of Wilson & Associates.
La Quinta Corp. promoted Temple Weiss to the new position of vice president, development and acquisitions. As vice president of finance and investor relations, his previous position, Weiss led the company's recent acquisition and integration of the Baymont lodging chain.
New vice president of communications for Choice Hotels International is Anne Madison. She joined the franchisor from The Enterprise Social Investment Corp., where she was a vice president.
Jeffrey Balagna recently joined Carlson Companies in the newly created position of executive vice president, chief information & customer technology officer. He had been CIO of Medtronic.
Larry Blumberg and Associates, an Alabama-based hotel developer, operator and manager, named Beau Benton as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Most recently, he was a principal in a regional accounting and consulting firm.
Two recent notable deaths in the hotel industry: Former Sheraton Hotels President & CEO Daniel Weadock died from injuries suffered in a mid-July automobile accident in Maine. He was 66. Also in mid-July, Carlson Hotels Vice President of Sales Larry Winston died at age 40.
John Plunket joined MeriStar Hospitality Corp. as senior vice president-real estate. He had been a partner with Oak Hill Realty, but from 1993 to 2001 he was executive vice president-finance & development for CapStar Hotels, MeriStar's predecessor company.
New general manager of The Club at Hammock Beach in Palm Coast, FL is Carlton Grant. He had been director of operations for the oc-eanfront resort.
Recently retired Cornell Hotel School admissions official Cheri Farrell was named outreach ambassador for the school. In her new part-time role, Farrell assists in outreach to alumni, friends and corporate partners on behalf of the school and the school's Center for Hospitality Research.
Membership Manager Sarah Evans was promoted to director of business services for IAHI, the Owners' Association of the InterContinental Hotels Group.
Micari Hill, general manager of Clayton on the Park in St. Louis, was named to the advisory board of the Boutique brand of Preferred Hotel Group.
Bob Marlowe was promoted to executive vice president of ShoLodge, Inc. He had been secretary, treasurer and CFO of the Tennessee-based firm.
New general manager of the Halekulani in Honolulu is Janis Clapoff. She joins the resort from the Simpson House Inn in Santa Barbara, CA, where she was managing partner.
Omni Hotels named Joanne Tripp director of national accounts in its Washington, DC office. She had been senior sales manager at the Omni Richmond Hotel.
