Choice Hotels International promoted Brian Parker to vice president, emerging markets and new business development. He leads the chain's efforts to sell franchises to both minority developers and entrepreneurs outside of the lodging industry.
Mark Hedley was promoted to executive vice president and chief information officer of Wyndham International. In his new role, he also oversees the firm's casino gaming operations in Puerto Rico.
Carlson Companies elevated Trudy Rautio to executive vice president and chief financial officer. The firm also promoted Paul Kirwin to the new position of president, Carlson Asia Pacific. He had been president and managing director of Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific.
Legendary hotelier Sam Apostle died in Phoenix on Feb. 10. Apostle's 40-year hotel career included 10 years as president of Ramada Franchise Systems. Most recently, he was president of Apostle Fitzgerald & Co.
Steve Shalit was named general manager of the St. Regis Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The property, which opens in December, has 166 guest-rooms, 27 private residences and 30 condo units. Shalit had been GM of the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, AZ.
New corporate director of human resources for Expotel Hospitality Services is Travis Tague. He had been director of HR for the company's Doubletree New Orleans.
Xavier Lividini was named general manager of The Mu-tiny Hotel in Miami's Coconut Grove. Most recently, he was InterContinental Hotel's regional director of marketing and sales for U.S. and Canada based at the InterContinental Miami.
New chief marketing officer of Noble House Hotels & Resorts is Al Petrone. His career includes posts with Ian Schrager Hotels, Starwood Hotels, Sheraton, W Hotels and Hotels AB.
Benchmark Hospitality International named three new general managers: Bob Zappatelli at The Founders Inn in Virginia Beach, VA; Greg Parsons at the Eaglewood Resort & Spa in Itasca, IL; and Davide Barnes at Chaminade in Santa Cruz, CA.
John Rosen joined Omni Hotels as vice president of acquisitions and development. He had been vice president of finance and administration for the development of Calistoga Ranch in Napa Valley, CA.
New general manager of the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa is Frank Lavey. The 17-year Hyatt veteran had been GM of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa.
Taj Hotels' new vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas is Jodi Dell Leblanc. She opened the chain's first North American office in 1999.
