Veteran hotel association executive Keith Stephenson joined the Florida Hotel and Motel Association as executive VP of brand management and business development. He had been executive VP and COO of the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association.
Starwood Hotels President and COO Robert Cotter will retire from his post at the end of the year. Cotter, 53, has been with Sheraton and later Starwood since graduating from Boston College in 1973.
Colin McBeath is the new general manager of the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, FL. He'll oversee a $10-million renovation and relaunch of the Kimpton Hotels property. He had been hotel manager of Kimpton's Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC.
Appointments at Fairmont Hotels include Serge Simard to vice president of food and beverage, Sara Schultz to vice president of asset management, Tom Griffiths to vice president and associate general counsel and Nicole Bellefleur to marketing manager of the Fairmont Famous Program.
Veteran hotel company executive Tom Arasi was named president of Atlanta-based Portman Holdings.
Brian Cole is the new general manager of the Stamford Suites Hotel in Shelton, CT. He had been assistant front office manager of the Hilton Woodcliff Lake (NJ). New Castle Hotels & Resorts operates both properties.

Among the individual winners: GM of the year-full-service, Stu Weiner, Danfords Inn on the Sound, Port Jefferson, NY; GM of the year-limited-service, Kevin Howell, Days Inn, Lake Buena Vista, FL; president's award, Bruce Hutcheon, GM, Comfort Suites, Schiller Park, IL; chairman's award, Chris Gutzler, corporate director of IT.
Choice Hotels recently named the development team for its new Cambria Suites product: David Aupied, southern U.S.; Stephen Dietrich, midwestern U.S.; Michael Goldstein, western and north- western U.S.; and Ralph Singer, southeastern U.S.
Michael Tompkins was named director of hotel and spa operations at the Oneida Indian Nation's Turning Stone Resort in upstate New York. He had been associate managing director and director of health and healing at the Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires.
New COO of Noble Investment Group is Bob Morse. He is also president of Noble Management Group, the firm's hospitality management division. Most recently, Morse was COO of Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
Days Inns gave the first Sunsational Leadership Award to Irwin Prince, president and COO of Days Inn-Canada. Prince also heads Days' master franchisor Realstar.
