Doug Geoga, a 23-year veteran of Hyatt and other Pritzker family ventures, resigned as president of Global Hyatt Corp. to form a hospitality investment and advisory firm.
Carlson Hotels Worldwide has new leaders in marketing and communications: Peter Goldreich, recently named vice president of marketing/communications, and Laurie Bauer, the new senior director of public relations/ communications. Goldreich will report to Carlson revenue chief Fredrik Korallus. Bauer will report to Goldreich. Longtime Carlson Hotels PR executive Tom Polski is now VP of global communications and external relations for the hotel group.
David Rodriguez was appointed executive vice president of human resources for Marriott International. He succeeds Brendan Keegan, who is retiring. Rodriguez was promoted from EVP/lodging human resources.
Jim Pepperdine, co-founder of Yesawich Pepperdine Brown & Russell, died in Florida June 3. He was 74. Best known for his efforts in building the popularity of the Caribbean as tourism destination, Pepperdine retired four years ago from YPB&R, the company he helped found in 1983.
James E. Conley is the new chief financial officer and Paul Burke is the new executive vice president of operations for Noble Investment Group. Conley comes to the Atlanta company from Wyndham International, while Burke comes from Interstate Hotels & Resorts. Both report to Mit Shah, Noble president and CEO.
The new general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Chicago is Stefan Simkovics. In recent years , the Austrian native was general manager of Four Seasons in Vancouver and San Francisco.
Graham Wootten has been promoted to vice president and corporate controller, and Sean Dell'Orto has been promoted to vice president and treasurer at Highland Hospitality Corp., a lodging real estate investment trust. Both joined Highland in 2003.
Interstate Hotels & Resorts promoted Ted Knighton to president, hotel operations. The 16-year Interstate veteran was EVP operations-full service division.
William Stanton has been appointed managing director of the Fort Lauderdale area for LXR Luxury Resorts. He is responsible for LXR's Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six Resort & Spa, the Bahia Mar Beach Resort & Yachting Center and the Fort Lauderdale Grand Hotel & Yacht Club.
Marshall Management added Benjamin N. Seidel and Patrick Welton to its senior management team. Seidel is executive vice president, Welton director of revenue.
Victor Barothy-Langer was named general manager of The US Grant-A Luxury Collection Hotel. The Starwood property in downtown San Diego is scheduled to reopen Nov. 1 following a $52-million renovation.
Carol D. Hian was named general manager of the nine-room Britt Scripps Inn, a nine-room luxury hotel near Balboa Park in San Diego.
Tim Miller returns as chief branding officer and Jennifer Nellany was named general counsel at Morgans Hotel Group, a boutique hotel operator. Miller was vice president of brand management and openings for Morgans until 2004, when he became founder and president of Alden Hotels.
