Former Holiday Inns CEO Bryan Langton joined eSuites Hotels as vice chairman. He will help with corporate culture, brand launch and management issues and other corporate functions attending development of the new brand.
Matthew Hart will replace Stephen F. Bollenbach as chief executive officer of Hilton Hotels Corp., effective next Jan. 1. Currently president and COO, Hart will be only the fourth Hilton CEO in the brand's 90-year history. Bollenbach will retire Dec. 31 but continue as co-chairman of the board and a consultant.
Wyndham Worldwide Chairman and CEO Stephen P. Holmes was named 2007 inductee into the Travel Industry Hall of Leaders. Holmes will be honored during an Oct. 23 dinner in Charlotte, NC at the Marketing Outlook Forum, an annual industry conference run by the Travel Industry Association.
Kaaren Hamilton is the new director of national sales for Carlson Hotels Worldwide. She comes to the Minneapolis brand from Hyatt Hotels and reports to Brad Penrith, Carlson Hotels' senior director of national sales.
Denise Seomin is the new senior director of external communications for Best Western International. Responsible for a four-member communications team and Allison & Partners, the brand's public relations agency, Seomin reports to Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president of marketing and sales.
Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts appointed Tony Cortizas vice president of marketing for its Americas division. The former Sandals & Beaches Resorts marketing executive is responsible for advertising, promotion and public relations for the Paradisus Resorts, Gran Melia and Melia brands.
E.J. Schanfarber was named president of Divi Hotels Marketing and executive vice president of Divi Hotels. The 28-year hospitality veteran aims to strengthen and expand the Caribbean properties of Divi Resorts, which operates eight resorts on five Caribbean islands.
Stephen G. Haggerty joined Global Hyatt Corp. as executive vice president, real estate and development. Haggerty was SVP, international project finance and asset management, EMEA for Marriott International.
Barcelo Crestline promoted Oscar Serrano to managing director of sales & marketing in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. In addition, three senior sales and marketing directors, who will report to Serrano, were appointed: Anthony Stone, Rick McCauley and Diego Villanueva.
Ingo Peters was promoted to regional vice president and general manager, Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Hamburg while Xavier Rugeroni joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in the same capacities at the Fairmont Monte Carlo.
Franz Buchhalter was promoted to vice president of leisure sales & marketing for Atlantis, Paradise Island, The Cove Atlantis and Harborside at Atlantis. He was executive director of leisure sales & marketing for these multi-brand luxury resorts in The Bahamas and has worked for their owner, Kerzner International, since May 1998.
Niklaus J. Leuenberger was appointed managing director of the New York Palace Hotel. He will also serves chairman of the Palace Executive Committee.
Jacqueline Four Sanders left the top position at the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park in Manhattan to be general manager of the Ritz-Carlton, Westchester (NY) hotel. The 10-story Westchester hotel is part of The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester luxury condominium towers rising in White Plains.
Mario Mazzini was appointed general manager of the newly renovated Hotel Sax Chicago, a House of Blues Hotel. Mazzini has more than 30 years of experience in luxury hotels in the U.S. and Europe.
The new general manager of the Hilton Chicago is John G. Wells, who moves to the downtown property from the same position at the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport.
Michele Reing joined privately held hotel investment company CapStar Hotel Company as chief financial officer. The former vice president and corporate controller at Analex Corp., Reing earlier was vice president of finance for MeriStar Hospitality Corp.
Mike Leven, founder and former chairman of US Franchise Systems (USFS), was named Hotelier of the Year by the University of New Hampshire, where Leven has taught hospitality courses. Leven, who recently retired after 45 years in hospitality, is now vice chairman of the Marcus Foundation, an Atlanta-based philanthropy.
Samuel R. Zabawsky was named corporate vice president of sales and revenue management for Boykin Management Co. He joins the Cleveland firm from Coral Hospitality in Florida, where he was director of sales and marketing.
Lori Holland was promoted to executive director, public relations, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
James Riker is the new general manager of the Hilton Hartford (CT) Hotel. The Waterford Hotel Group executive is responsible for all hotel operations and more than 240 associates.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts veteran George Fong was appointed senior vice president, architecture and design for the luxury hotel chain. He oversees design, architecture and construction of new projects and openings as well as renovations of existing properties. Katherine Blaisdell returned to Rosewood as vice president of development construction. She was design and construction director for the ultra-luxury lodging manager from 1985 to 2005, when she left for the Kor Hotel Group.
Denis McCarthy was promoted from senior vice president and corporate controller to chief accounting officer at Interstate Hotels & Resorts. He manages Interstate's corporate accounting, financial reporting and tax functions.
Pittsburgh Marriott North at Cranberry Woods General Manager Ron Antonucci was named Marriott GM of the Year at the recent 2007 Marriott International Global Conference.
Barry H. Gump is the first holder of the Harvey R. Chaplin Eminent Scholar's Chair in Beverage Management at the Florida State University School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Gump's appointment at the Miami institution takes effect in August.
Sharon Glees joined Crescent Hotels & Resorts as senior vice president of human resources. Glees most recently was vice president of human resources for the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Her HR experience includes eight years with Marriott Corp.
