Loews Corp. Chairman and hotel industry pioneer Preston Robert Tisch died on Nov. 15. Starting in 1946, Tisch and his brother Larry built Loews Hotels and later Loews Corp. Robert Tisch's son, Jonathan, is current chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels.
The Wisconsin Innkeepers Association named Ronald McCord as its Associate of the Year. A long-time hotelier and broker, McCord is president of Milmark Hotel/Motel Investments.
Greg Ade was named president of Cendant Hotels' new management company that will operate its 20 managed Wyndham Hotels. Other Wyndham appointments include April Urbine to vice president of national sales and Jeff Smith vice president of operations.
Noel Ferguson was promoted to senior vice president of human resources for La Quinta Corp. He joined the company in 2003.
FelCor Lodging Trust President and CEO Thomas Corcoran was elected secretary/treasurer of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. He'll serve as the group's chairman in 2008.
Newly elected president of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association is Dieter Huckestein. He is retiring as CEO of Conrad Hotels and president of the Hilton Global Alliance.
Carlson Companies Chairman and CEO Marilyn Carlson Nelson was named vice chair of the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, an arm of the U.S. Commerce Department. Elsewhere at Carlson, Fredrik Korallus was named executive vice president of revenue generation for Carlson Hotels Worldwide, Jeff Smith was named senior director of colleague communications for Carlson Companies, and Fay Beauchine was appointed senior vice president of enterprise sales for Carlson Companies.
Lou Weckstein stepped down as president of John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts. Joe Morrissey was promoted to senior vice president of operations and has assumed Weckstein's duties.
Gary Rosenberg, former president and CEO of The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA, joined EMCO Hospitality as president.
Appointments at NYLO Hotels include Patrick O'Neil as senior vice president of operations and David Klein as general counsel. NYLO is a new loft-style, mid-priced boutique chain.
New general manager of the Holiday Inn Ventura Beach Resort in southern California is Douglas Wood. He previously held a similar post at the Crowne Plaza in San Jose, CA.
