Patrick O'Neil will be general manager of NYLO Hotel's inaugural property in Plano, TX. He also will continue to serve as senior vice president of operations for the lifestyle, loft-oriented brand. The 176-room NYLO in suburban Dallas is set to open in December.
Dale Wielgus was appointed human resources manager for Sofitel Worldwide, a branch of Accor Group. Wielgus joined Accor in 1998 as a field human resources manager for Motel 6.
John Murphy received the 2007 Mike Leven Culture Award for exemplifying the principles and values of U.S. Franchise Systems, which Leven founded. Murphy is director of design & construction for Microtel Inns & Suites and Hawthorn Suites, both USFS brands.
Kurt Smith was named senior director, product service and development, for Hampton Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites hotels. He leads a team of six charged with developing new product and service standards and a global development strategy for Hampton.
The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville has a new vice president and hotel manager: Peter J. Weien. The 25-year hospitality veteran joins the Tennessee landmark from ResortQuest, where he was COO and SVP.
Meredith Quarnstrom was named vice president, food and beverage, for Hilton Hotels Corp. The 12-year Hilton veteran was GM of the Hilton Atlanta Airport and the Doubletree Hotel Tyson's Corner, VA.
Kevin McPherson was named vice president, hotel division for JCS Development. He joined the Anoka, MN hotel organization in 2003 as director of operations and marketing.
Tom Dunn, a 15-year veteran of franchise sales and development, was named managing director of franchise development in the Southeast for Budgetel Franchise System, LLC of Atlanta.
Dolce International veteran Geoff Lawson was appointed general manager of Dolce Basking Ridge, NJ. Lawson, who remains regional area director for Dolce, will oversee a multi-million-dollar refurbishment to be completed by year's end.
Pamela A. Suhr joined Crescent Hotels & Resorts as chief operating officer. Suhr spent 14 years with Interstate Hotels & Resorts, where she rose to senior vice president, sales and marketing.
Carlson Hotels Worldwide hired Brett Zabel as the new director of travel industry relationship. In this new TIR position, Zabel drives synergy between Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Carlson Hotels.
Thom Geshay rejoined Davidson Hotel Company as senior vice president, business development. He spent 20 years with Davidson before becoming SVP, real estate, for Tarsadia Hotels.
Eric Hughes was appointed senior director of franchise sales and development for AmericInn International. He is responsible for an 11-state area in the upper Midwest.
New general manager of the Bellasera Hotel in Naples, FL is Steve McIntire. He had been GM of a sister property, Park Shore Resort, also in Naples.
