HOT Enriches Its Mix
Security issues from making guestrooms safe to keeping tabs on personal identity will be among the topics at the 2007 Strategic Conference on Hospitality Operations & Technology March 14-16.
The seventh HOT will take place at the Hilton Anatole, its base for many years. Wednesday, March 14, will be given over to the Green Hospitality Conference, presented by Lodging Hospitality magazine and Pineapple Hospitality. The keynote address will be by David Oakey, a leader in sustainable design. Interactive GHC sessions will touch on “green” housekeeping and utilities, design and construction. GHC will close with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. Registration for HOT will be available at the Anatole from 2 to 6 that afternoon.
Returning to address HOT will be Tim Harvey, executive vice president and chief information officer, Hilton Hotels Corp., and Roger Bloss, a staunch HOT supporter and chief executive officer of the rapidly growing Americas Best Value Inn/Vantage Hospitality Group.
Executives new to HOT will include Tom Keltner, president of brand performance and development at Hilton; Nelson Garrido, vice president of information technology at Noble Investment Group; and Dwight Smith, SVP and CIO, Marriott Vacation Club International.
Also new to HOT will be its keynote speaker, at noon Thursday, March 15: Mike Leven, former head of U.S. Franchise Systems and now vice chairman of Marcus Foundation, an Atlanta charity.
For the second year in a row, HOT will feature 12 Roundtables, opportunities to share insights and best practices about technological equipment that affects operations. Topics will include telecommunications, energy management, e-procurement, digital signage and property management systems. Also, interactive sessions on lodging's hottest topics will distinguish the get-together.
HOT 2007 will launch soft the evening of March 14 with a welcome reception in the atrium of the Anatole. It will get down to business at 8 a.m. March 15, when Gary Dietz, LH publisher, and Donald Gallagher, managing director of BearingPoint, will welcome attendees.
At 8:15, “COOs Check In,” featuring top executives such as Hilton's Keltner, ABVI's Bloss, and Bob Morse of Noble Investment, will start. The panel is sure to touch on online distribution, the proliferation of HDTV and issues surrounding guest and guestroom security.
After a 9:45 a.m. break, interactive sessions on revenue management, using technology to build brand loyalty and the rapid evolution of in-room entertainment will take place. Between 1:30 and 3 p.m., Roundtables on related issues, along with PMS and sales & catering, will be held. That afternoon, there will be interactive sessions on radio frequency identification and private label distribution. A 6 p.m. reception will cap HOT's first full day.
The following day will begin with an 8 a.m. breakfast. At 9 a.m., “CIOs Check In” will feature Hilton IT guru Tim Harvey, Marriott Vacation Club International SVP/CIO and Noble Investment Group IT VP Nelson Garrido. BearingPoint's Donald Gallagher will again moderate.
After a coffee break, the conference will conclude at noon following interactive sessions on CRM, the payment card industry and managed services.
