INNCOM, SAFLOK in HVAC Venture
Integrated guestroom control systems specialist INNCOM and electronic and computer-controlled locking systems manufacturer SAFLOK have created an interface that automatically shuts down a hotel's HVAC system in an emergency by inserting a specially programmed magnetic-stripe keycard in any guestroom lock.
Developed by INNCOM research and development, the feature can be integrated with any of the firm's range of wired or wireless energy-management systems so a hotel can give employees the ability to protect the building and its occupants in case of fire, biological or chemical hazard by instantly shutting down the air circulation.
When the special, pre-programmed card is inserted into the lock, the lock transfers the information over the INNCOM backbone to the server, which “broadcasts” a shutoff to all the guestrooms to cease fan operation. The server also can notify other systems and can be programmed to activate the fire alarm system.
