Kids Like Orlando Hard Rock
Pizza-making draws kids to the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, where 36 percent of total food sales come from the kids' menu. The property recently won a Best Kids' menu award from Restaurant Hospitality, a sister publication of Lodging Hospitality.
The pizza-making is interactive: Kids are invited to create their own pizzas under the supervision of a master chef. Once the pie is piping hot, it's delivered to their table, along with Hard Rock recipes they're welcome to take home.
Besides The Kitchen, the hotel's hippest restaurant and the site of pizza heaven, there's a kids' buffet that includes a salad bar, kid-tailored hot entrees and desserts, and the Kids Crib, a separate area where they can watch cartoons on a flat-screen TV while lounging on giant beanbag chairs.
The marketing is marvelously targeted: The hotel puts its kids' menu on an oven mitt. It even offers a “healthy choice” menu for kids with special dietary concerns.
