Hotels with between 100 and 200 rooms lead the U.S. lodging industry construction pipeline, according to new data from Lodging Econometrics, the New Hampshire-based hotel real estate analysis firm. Of 5,883 lodging projects currently in the construction pipeline, 46 percent of properties (2,709) are in the mid-sized category. The segment also accounts for nearly half of the 785,547 guestrooms under development.

Properties with less than 100 rooms are a close second in properties (2,590) and rooms (around 200,000) under development. Rounding out the pipeline are hotels with 201 to 300 rooms (350 properties), 301 to 500 rooms (146) and those over 500 rooms (88).
