In honor of his return, the New Yorker Hotel held a surprise homecoming party February 28th with his family, friends and colleagues.
“All to often we hear of the tragedies that befall our soldiers in the Middle East,” says Kevin Smith, the hotel's general manager. “We are thankful that our colleague and friend has finally returned to us. This is a strong reminder to all of us that we must acknowledge the sacrifice that Carlos, and other soldiers, have made for our country.”
Melendez has worked at the hotel since 1996.
