OXFORD MEDIA LAUNCHES VOD/PPV SYSTEMS
Oxford Media has launched a sales and marketing campaign to sell its video-on-demand and pay-per-view systems to hotels and motels of 50 to 300 rooms. According to the Irvine, CA company, this market comprises more than 2.4 million guestrooms, representing about 56 percent of the domestic hotel market.

Oxford Media estimates it will link up 300 hotels in the coming year. It says it is signing agreements with major motion picture studios and independent film and production companies to enable distribution of movies and other entertainment content to hotel guests using its proprietary eMOD, its scalable, turnkey digital VOD and PPV system.
According to the company, eMOD runs on the existing RF cable plant installed in the property and integrates easily with satellite or cable free-to-guest systems. “What differentiates eMOD from other video-on-demand systems is the many ways it captures revenue,” it says, citing direct billing to the folio through the PMS, direct billing to the guest's credit card and “most important for small hotels is the ability to include the guest who is paying cash for the room.”
