Choice Hotels promoted Stacy Ragland to vice president, franchise performance. She had been director of franchise sales. The company also hired Shaun Smithson as senior director of brand management. Previously, he was senior director of hotel performance support for Hilton Garden Inns.
Accor North America named three new vice presidents: Inaganti Rao to vice president of development for Red Roof, Craig Cunningham to vice president of marketing in the business and leisure department and Glenda Shel-by to vice president in the diversity and corporate people department.
Desires Hotels named David Lopez general manager of Hotel La Mela, a new boutique hotel that opens later this year in New York City. He had been president of Dream Luxury Hotels-Resorts-Villas, a sales and marketing consulting firm.
The Minneapolis chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners recently honored Carlson Hotels executive Nancy Johnson with its Woman of Achievement Award. Johnson is executive vice president of full-service hotels for Carlson.
New general manager of the Marriott Hartford (CT) Downtown is John Fraher. Most recently, he was GM of the Sheraton Hotel in Nashua, NH.
Recent appointments at Noble Investment Group include Nelson Garrido to vice president of information technology and Susan Benshoff to corporate director of revenue management.
Michael Smith recently returned to the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill as general manager. He came back to the hotel, where he had been GM until 2004, from the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, which has remained closed following last year's Hurricane Katrina.
New vice president of asset management for FelCor Lodging Trust is Daniel Jorns. He had been senior vice president of hotel operations/full-service division for Interstate Hotels and Resorts.
Crescent Hospitality Corp. hired William Driscoll as vice president of business development. He had been vice president of operations for Merritt Hospitality.
Wayne Olcott joined Mandoki Hospitality as director of resort operations. Previously, he was corporate VP-resort accommodations for theme park operator Cedar Fair. Mandoki operates Gulf Shores Plantation on the coast of Alabama.
Anthony Rodio was promoted to regional president of the Atlantic City Hilton and Resorts Atlantic City. He continues as chief gaming executive of the Hilton. Other Resorts International appointments include Phil Juliano to regional senior VP of marketing, Francis McCarthy to regional senior VP of finance and administration and Patricia Rocco to regional vice president of human resources.
