The pace of operations at the Executive West Hotel, Louisville, KY is picking up speed.

The hotel has acquired a Segway Human Transporter (HT), a self-balancing, electric-powered transportation device, for routine hotel operations.

The Segway HT gives security officers an enhanced presence in patrolling a large parking lot while maintenance personnel use it to increase response time to repair and maintenance calls, says Mary Moseley, president of the hotel's parent company, Al J. Schneider Company. “Our convention services teams benefit as well,” says Moseley. “They're now able to offer faster service in meeting guests' requests.”

With dimensions no larger than the average adult body and the ability to emulate human balance, the HT uses the same space as a pedestrian and can go wherever a person can walk. It allows businesses to increase productivity, lower operational costs and reduce dependency on gas.
