Plains of Africa in Ohio

Africa is the theme for the NIA Center, a newly opened meeting space at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, OH. With 95,000 square feet of ballrooms, boardrooms and other function space, the operators say it's the largest independently owned conference facility in the state.

Playing off the adjacent 596-room Kalahari indoor waterpark hotel, the meeting facility has an African theme in artwork, décor and furnishings. Part of the facility's mix of space are four 1,200-square-foot African hut-style meeting rooms.

Other features include a 17,200-square-foot, divisible ballroom, two junior ballrooms, four hospitality suites and two boardrooms.
