A quaint Victorian inn installs the latest Sony HDTV technology

You don't need to run a giant hotel or have a giant budget to gain a competitive advantage with Sony displays. Sony covers an amazing range of properties, from large resorts on the Vegas strip to small regional hotels like the Chateau Inn & Suites in Spring Lake, New Jersey. “We use the Sony HDTVs as a selling point,” said Robert Murray, general manager. “And they've made an immediate difference in our business. Our investment has already paid for itself.”

The competitive difference at Chateau Inn & Suites

A pristine village on the Jersey Shore, Spring Lake is known for stately Victorian homes, sycamore-lined streets and a competitive market for bed & breakfasts. “We compete by offering higher levels of service and amenities than B&B's,” Murray said. “This extends to our televisions: Sony flat-panel HDTVs. Some of our suites offer two HDTVs, a 42-inch* plasma and a 32-inch* LCD. These are not your typical ‘B&B’ televisions.”

Sony displays are installed in the property's suites and parlors, roughly half of the 37 guest rooms. Guest room televisions receive more than 70 channels of cable TV. All rooms also offer DVD players, for which guests can borrow titles from the Inn's library of movies. Another Sony HDTV in the lobby shows hotel information including pictures of the guest rooms, promotions and activities for the coming season. The Inn “pushes” this content from a networked PC to the display's plug-in media player.

Sony service and support

When the Inn wanted to have the plug-in TV tuner modules upgraded, Robert Murray experienced Sony's service and support. He says, “Sony made the upgrade modification effortless. They sent us the upgraded tuners and we sent them the old ones. It was very smooth. I would absolutely recommend Sony to other hotels.”
