DON'T BUG YOUR GUESTS
Guests of the Queen Mary must rely on their imaginations to recreate luxury cruising — John Jacob Astor style — in the 307-room Art Deco hotel docked for the last 40 years in Long Beach, CA. It will take even more imagination to conjure bed bugs (not that anyone would want to).
Hostmark Hospitality Group is ensuring the tiny critters never disturb their “passengers” by installing Protect-A-Beds throughout the venerable ship/hotel, which is undergoing upgrades to the property and the guestrooms. “I am proud to offer our guests the safest and most sanitary beds in the entire city,” says Hotel General Manager Jay Primavera.
With growing concern for health care and the high occupancy in popular hotels, protecting mattresses and pillows against dust mites and bed bug infestation is increasingly important. The bed bug-proof encasement's total heat transference lets heat and moisture escape while preventing liquids from seeping in.
“Our protectors not only create a healthy sleeping environment for guests, they also protect mattresses and pillows by reducing cleaning and replacement costs,” says Petra Minoff, vice president of hospitality for Protect-A-Bed. Made of breathable fabric with a natural, hypoallergenic cotton surface, the material is cool in summer and warm in winter. The Bug Lock Seal ensures bed bugs cannot enter the casement.
Protect-A-Bed's mattress protector, AllerZip, received the 2007 Editor's Choice Award at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show. All Protect-A-Bed products are listed as Class 1 medical devices with the Federal Drug Administration. Circle 55
