The American Hotel & Lodging Association honored Leo Vogel, senior vice president of sales and marketing for American of Martinsville, with the John Whitaker Award, presented to the outstanding hotel supplier for dedication to and innovation within the industry. Vogel has been one of the most consistently active members of AH&LA for more than 15 years.
Advantage Fitness Products named Andrew Kane its new chief operating officer. Prior to joining Advantage, Kane had been vice chairman of GCC, an East Coast-based merchant bank.
Onity appointed Mark Gordon to president and general manager. Gordon had been managing director of Smiths Detection, a division of Smiths Group.
Hotel Brokers International presented Wisconsin-based broker Ron McCord, CHB, CHA, with the Noah L. Canfield Distinguished Service Award, which honors a member broker or associate who demonstrated distinctive leadership within the organization and hospitality industry. McCord is president of Milmark Hotel/Motel Investments and has more than 35 years experience in hotel real estate sales.
Smith Travel Research, Deloitte's HotelBenchmark and The Bench launched STR Global, which provides hotel operators, developers, financiers and analysts access to hotel research with custom reports covering more than 36,200 hotels. STR Global is based in London with support from Smith Travel Research's offices in suburban Nashville.
Brent Clemens joined the Paramount Lodging Advisors team and will be based in the Chicago office, focusing on limited-service hotel transactions in the Midwest and Southeast.
Cypress Hotel & Spa appointed Larry Cook as executive vice president and general sales manager, where he'll cover the Northwest and Rocky Mountain regional sales areas. He is based at parent company, Russell-Newman, Inc., with headquarters in Denton, TX.
Four Carlson Hotels joined the ranks of FreshStay's 3,500 guaranteed smoke-free properties around the world. The new members are the Radisson Plaza Hotel Minneapolis, Radisson Hotel Central Dallas, Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown and Country Inn & Suites by Carlson, San Diego.
United Feather & Down unveiled its newly remodeled Chicago product showroom. Located in the corporate headquarters, the showroom features the company's extensive collection of products.
Brian Slack was named the new vice president of sales for Pro-Link. Slack had been vice president of sales for Minuteman International, Flo-Pac Corporation, Carlisle Sanitary Maintenance Products and Harvard Chemical Research.
Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels named Clay Dickinson executive vice president of its advisory service. With more than 20 years experience, Dickinson will be based in the Atlanta office and run advisory deals for the full-service and select-service sides of the business.
Phil Dei Dolori was named the group managing director-Europe and Asia at Enodis Plc. He'll oversee all business units, functions and regional sales outside the Americas. He joined Scotsman last year as group president, ice and beverage systems, and will continue to chair a management board for this group to maintain continuity in global ice/beverage strategy.
Creative Hospitality Associates joined Roomlinx, Inc. as its sales partner for all products and services. CHA's main objective will be to build awareness and expand distribution of Roomlinx's interactive, TV-based system.
Marcus & Millichap honored Michael Kaiyi Yu as its top hospitality investment specialist for 2007. Kaiyi Yu, an associate vice president of investments, facilitated transactions valued at $61.89 million.
Rocky Mountain Connections hired James LaFemina as vice president of sales and marketing and Shannon Lindquist as sales and operations coordinator. LaFemina will be based in the Denver office, while Lindquist will be in Vail, CO.
