At the recent Americas Best Value Inn convention in Las Vegas, PhoneSuite President Frank Melville was elected as a vendor representative to the chain's advisory board.

Don Moore joined Calgary, AB-based Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment as chief marketing officer. Moore, who most recently was with Paradyne, oversees Guest-Tek's global sales and marketing efforts.

New director of the GE Commercial Finance Real Estate Hospitality Group is Susan Lee Furbay. Most recently she was vice president of hospitality brokerage for Molinaro Koger.

PKF Consulting promoted Jeff Lugosi from vice president to senior vice president. Lugosi, who works in the firm's Los Angeles office, joined the company in 1988.

In late December, investment firm Warburg Pincus purchased InfoGenesis, a hospitality and foodservice technology firm. At the time of the sale, InfoGenesis founder and CEO Karl Willig retired from the company and Terry Cunningham became the new president and CEO.

Former SynXis executive Bernard Ellis joined IDeaS as managing director for the Americas. At SynXis, Ellis was senior vice president of strategic accounts and channels. IDeaS provides revenue optimization systems to the hotel industry.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts hired Oakland, CA-based Carol H. Williams Advertising to help the chain target the African-American market. According to the agency, it will “integrate a distinct African American voice into Starwood's advertising and marketing campaigns.”

Best Manufacturing Group promoted Debbie Seife as vice president of marketing. She joined the company in 2002.

Aaron Lerner joined real estate investment advisory firm Sonnenblick-Eichner Co. as an associate. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California.

Pegasus Solutions promoted Robert Boles to chief operating officer. He joined the company in 2003 after a 20-year career with IBM. At Pegasus, Boles oversees sales and marketing, product management and strategy and service delivery.

New chief financial officer of high-speed Internet access provider Wayport is Ken Kieley. He had been CFO, vice president of finance and secretary of Netsolve.

American Hotel Register Co. opened a distribution center in Seattle. The facility, the company's 10th, has more than 1,600 items in stock in its 36,500 square feet of space.

Cleaning products marketer JohnsonDiversey signed on as a senior partner of the Cornell Hotel School's Center for Hospitality Research. The firm will underwrite a study on the costs and benefits associated with the cleaning of hotel rooms.

Deloitte & Touche USA named Adam Weissenberg as national managing partner of its tourism, hospitality and leisure services group. He previously headed the group's consulting practice in the Northeast.

Electrobug Technologies Ltd. named former TravelClick executive Bruce Mainzer to head the firm's product sales and development in North America. The U.K.-based firm provides rate shopping intelligence services for hotels and other businesses. Mainzer had been a senior vice president of marketing for TravelClick.

Law firms Piper Rudnick LLP and Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP have merged. The combined firm has more than 1,300 lawyers and is known as Piper Rudnick Gray Cary.
