In late December, investment firm Warburg Pincus purchased InfoGenesis, a hospitality and foodservice technology firm. At the time of the sale, InfoGenesis founder and CEO Karl Willig retired from the company and Terry Cunningham became the new president and CEO.
Former SynXis executive Bernard Ellis joined IDeaS as managing director for the Americas. At SynXis, Ellis was senior vice president of strategic accounts and channels. IDeaS provides revenue optimization systems to the hotel industry.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts hired Oakland, CA-based Carol H. Williams Advertising to help the chain target the African-American market. According to the agency, it will “integrate a distinct African American voice into Starwood's advertising and marketing campaigns.”

Cleaning products marketer JohnsonDiversey signed on as a senior partner of the Cornell Hotel School's Center for Hospitality Research. The firm will underwrite a study on the costs and benefits associated with the cleaning of hotel rooms.
Deloitte & Touche USA named Adam Weissenberg as national managing partner of its tourism, hospitality and leisure services group. He previously headed the group's consulting practice in the Northeast.
Electrobug Technologies Ltd. named former TravelClick executive Bruce Mainzer to head the firm's product sales and development in North America. The U.K.-based firm provides rate shopping intelligence services for hotels and other businesses. Mainzer had been a senior vice president of marketing for TravelClick.
Law firms Piper Rudnick LLP and Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich LLP have merged. The combined firm has more than 1,300 lawyers and is known as Piper Rudnick Gray Cary.
