Broward County, FL, Files Eminent Domain to Buy Airport Hilton
Broward County has filed an eminent domain lawsuit against the owner of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel in order to finish building its expanded runway at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Documents filed with the 17th Judicial Circuit for Broward County state that the county wants to acquire the hotel, at 1870 Griffin Road in Dania Beach. The hotel is owned by Fort Lauderdale Owner LLC, which is affiliated with Blackstone Real Estate Investors.

The county has little choice but to acquire the property because work has already begun on expanding Runway 9R-27L from 5,276 feet to 8,000 feet to accommodate larger aircraft. Click here for the full story.
