Hawaii Hotel Rates Up, Occupancy Down at Christmas
Hawaii hotels were 84.7 percent full during Christmas week, a 1.8 percentage-point decrease when compared to the same week in 2011, while the statewide average daily room rate increased by 1.6 percent to $316.16, according to the most recent report from Hospitality Advisors LLC and Smith Travel Research.
 
Oahu was the only island that had an increase in average daily room rates for the week of Dec. 23 to Dec. 29 when compared to the same week in 2011. Oahu hotel room rates increased by 2.5 percent to an average rate of $248.03. Occupancy, however, decreased by 2.1 percentage points to 87.5 percent.
 
Kauai is the only island that had an increase in hotel occupancy, which jumped 2.9 percentage points to 81.5 percent. Average daily room rates decreased by 1.4 percent to a rate of $310.33. Click here for the full story.
