Portland Convention Hotel Will Need Public Financing

Portland Convention Hotel Will Need Public Financing
A proposed Grand Hyatt Hotel at the Oregon Convention Center will not get built without substantial support from the public.

The $200 million-plus hotel will most likely depend on the city of Portland or other public agency to sponsor bonds to pay for its construction on a privately-owned site immediately north of the convention center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Metro, together with the city of Portland and Multnomah County, tapped Mortenson Development to construct a Hyatt project near the hotel. The two sides have settled on a single 600-room hotel on the north side of Northeast Holladay Street, directly across from the convention center. Click here for the full story.
