An increasing number of hotels, including The Kessler Collection’s Grand Bohemian in Orlando, are instituting policies that essentially eliminate attrition penalties for groups that can’t fulfill their guestroom booking obligations. The 10-property Kessler chain as well as Omni Hotels announced their new policies in the past few days.

Groups booking Kessler properties, which range from the Doubletree Castle Hotel in Orlando to the Beaver Creek Lodge in Colorado ski country, won’t be penalized if they can’t fill their contracted guestroom blocks. Also, groups that need to postpone or move a meeting to another Kessler hotel can do so within 12 months and suffer no penalty. To take advantage of the offer, groups need to book events by Feb. 28.

Omni’s Zero Attrition promotion mirrors the Kessler offer with a few twists. Omni is waiving attrition fees for events booked by June 30, held this year and have a maximum of 150 peak roomnights. In addition, the program includes mutual room block reviews at 90, 60 and 30 days prior to arrival.
