Element Debuts in Massachusetts
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide debuted its eco-friendly lifestyle brand, element, in Lexington, MA on Wednesday. The first LEED-certified chain in the country has more hotels scheduled to open this year, in Summerlin, NV; Irving, TX; Arundel Mills, MD; and Houston (TX) Vintage Park.
Element Lexington will become Starwood’s green trailblazer, helping educate sister brands like Westin, Sheraton and Le Meridien Hotels with its eco-friendly and eco-chic experiences. Element will become like W Hotels, which became Starwood’s incubator for hotel style and design in 1999.
Element Lexington features a bright lobby with natural light from a multi-storied window wall and 123 guestrooms combining luxury and technology. All rooms offer a complete kitchen with modern, Energy-Star-rated appliances and of course feature Westin’s Heavenly Beds. Guests can customize their experiences through multi-purpose, modular furniture, swiveling flat-screen LCD TVs, large desks with open shelving and custom-designed closets.
The brand’s green features are designed to be as aesthetically pleasing as they are environmentally friendly, including energy-efficient stainless steel appliances and lighting; water-efficient faucets and fixtures; and recycling bins for paper, plastic and glass. Element hotels will use low VOC paints and carpets with 100-percent recycled content and offer guests with hybrid cars special parking privileges.
“Element makes it easy to be environmentally responsible without having to sacrifice a great guest experience,” says Brian McGuinness, global brand leader of aloft and element hotels.
